CLIMATE ACTION IS NOW
WAKE. UP.
The youth are awake. They are alive. They are fighting. They are at the forefront of climate change. Young child activists are at the example of how we should live life. To quote Greta Thunberg , 16 year-old , “This is the time to wake up.”
Are you awake?
In the past month — today, even— fires have ravaged the Murrieta/Temecula/Menifee valley Less than 10 miles from my home Murrieta the Tenaja Fire ravaged 2000 miles of the Santa Rosa Plateau, an ecological preserve that my family and I frequent regularly.
The sign —ravaged by the Tenaja fire— barely reads, “Santa Rosa Plateau: Visitor Center Next Right” next to the scorched earth.
How many more fires do we need to wake up?
In the atlantic, a frenzy of 6 named storms are ravaging the east coast. They are bomboarding the bahamas once more with intense winds, hurricanes, and rain, the harbingers of death. My family in the Philippines talk about the longer monsoon seasons, the increased frequency of storms, and the more intense weather.

Why don’t you tell my family that climate change doesn’t exist? Tell the reason that they are experiencing such changes to the Philippines delicate ecosystem (*see: Climate Risk Profile — Philippines)
Me enjoying the jungles and waterfalls of my mother’s hometown in Bataan. I hope to be able to take my kids here in the future…
I hear parents and teachers say all the time, “I don’t know why the students are so anxious and stressed. They have it so easy!” It’s easy to figure out why they are anxious if you actually listen to them. Students are plagued by the feeling of impending doom of climate change, a term coined eco-anxiety. How can we expect students to plan for a future job when they don’t know if they have a future to prepare for?
So what will you do to wake up? What’s your why?
My why is because I love myself. Because I love my family. Because I love you and this beautiful, messed up world we live in.
So I’ll fight until we all win. Or we all lose. Climate experts estimate that a warmer planet can only support 1 billion human beings. There are currently 7.3 billion people. 6 billion people are projected to die.
6 billion are projected to die… So let’s fight to prevent it!
Friday, September 20th, we people around the world will walk to join climate strikers to demand a future where we can be free. The world is on fire, literally. Let’s take action in our hands before its too late. Or else we will be in the fight of our fucking lives.
